Hey, friends and family.

Oakley has a mostly clean bill of health, aside from pricey food and allergy meds, but yesterday things looked really bad.

TLDR: Oakley had very severe symptoms for (from what we understand currently) what ended up being a VERY upset stomach.

I don’t like to ask, but any amount would be hugely appreciated!

We’re so grateful that he’s okay now and that more intrusive means weren’t necessary.

In the morning (June 5) he vomited up his breakfast, early-afternoon a bit more. Then around 2:30 my roomate called me and told me he had vomited all over the house. Roomate said he was breathing rapidly. I rushed home, terrified.

He was super lethargic, barely responding to me coming home. Breathing rapidly and obviously uncomfortable.

I took him to urgent care, he barely got out of the car, we had to lift him out. They got us in immediately.

Biggest risks:

- ruptured tumour: common in large older dog

- internal bleeding

-issues with his heart

We ran blood tests and an ultrasound, with no conclusive results. Next was xrays. Radiologist said there were no obvious issues. He ended up feeling a bit better after the light sedation/pain meds. They gave him an anti-nausea shot, and sent us home with more anti-nausea meds and pain meds.

Turns out he had severe GI upset, and he’s gonna be okay. He’ll have a checkup in a couple weeks to make sure his blood levels are still okay. He might need IV fluids today if he doesn’t eat.

Everything came to about $2350.

All of this to say, he’s doing much better. We are so so grateful for that.
