Bicycle Barry Hospitalized - NEEDS OUR HELP!

On Jan 2, 2025, Barry Hammond was cycling home from work when he was stalked and run down by a rage-filled driver. The driver fled the scene but was followed by a witness who immediately called 911. The driver was arrested, convicted, and sentenced to a year in jail, plus 3 years of supervised probation.

Barry, on the other hand, was left with an open fracture just above his left ankle. It took two surgeries and four months in hospitals and rehab facilities before “Bicycle Barry” would be able to return home and resume his life. This page was created to help Barry pay bills and rent so that he had a home to come back to. He has often said he doesn’t know what he would do if it were not for the kindness of strangers.

In September, Barry was progressing nicely. He had a goal of riding to Camelback Mountain and reaching the top exactly one year after the accident. It looked like he was going to reach that goal. Then he received a letter from the sheriff’s office notifying him that the driver had been released from jail. There was no explanation.

But the truly devastating news was to come just a couple of weeks later. Barry noticed what looked like a sign of infection on his ankle. He went to the emergency room; they took X-rays and CT scans. The hardware in Barry’s ankle had broken and was creating an infection.

So after a third surgery, Barry finds himself back at square one. Only this time, the chances of the bone properly healing are far lower than in January. Bone that wouldn’t heal and was destroyed by infection had to be removed. So he was put on a six-week antibiotic IV therapy. After that, Barry will have a fourth surgery to determine what options are next: amputation or trying to save his leg. Neither option is going to be quick. Barry will not be able to work for at least six months. But doctors tell him that this time around, he could be looking at close to a year before he can resume his life.

This is devastating for Barry. He needs our help now more than ever. He is looking at a long road to recovery and losing everything in the process. Despite the injustice of it all, Barry keeps a positive attitude. He likes to quote Keanu Reeves: “Pain heals, chicks dig scars, and glory lasts forever,” he says with a grin.

We would appreciate any donation you can spare. But just as important, we need you to help spread the word about Barry’s situation. Please share this page on your Facebook, Instagram, or any social media platform you belong to. Subscribe to Barry’s YouTube channel, where he gives updates by video. Then **like, comment, and share every video you see**.

Here’s why those simple actions matter so much: every like tells the platform’s algorithm, “This story is worth showing to more people.” Every comment keeps the post active longer, pushing it higher in feeds. Every share puts Barry’s face in front of friends who’ve never heard his name. One share can spark ten more; one comment can turn into a conversation that reaches hundreds. Together, these free clicks create a ripple effect that turns a handful of viewers into thousands of potential helpers—and thousands into the lifeline Barry needs right now.

Thank you again. God bless.
