For a little over a year, I volunteered at Ark Valley Correctional Facility, joining church services and connecting with the men there. During a special event, I had a conversation with an inmate who shared that he hadn’t had a visitor in over 15 years. He told me about the loss of his 18-year-old child and the passing of both his parents. He felt he had nothing left to live for and no reason to care about his future. That conversation deeply moved me and inspired me to become a chaplain at the facility, so I could minister to all the men—not just those attending church services.
Many of the men at Ark Valley, regardless of their faith background, are always asking for bibles. Some are seeking study bibles, others need large print versions, and there is a growing need for both English and Spanish translations. I often receive requests for specific versions, and all donated items must be new. I have been purchasing bibles on my own, but with around 1,100 men at the facility and frequent movement in and out, this is not something I can sustain.
Your support will allow me to bring the Word of God to these men in the way they need to see it. With your help, I can provide bibles in the format, version, and language each person requests. Together, we can offer hope, encouragement, and a sense of connection to men who need it most.
