On August 30, 2022, Bibhav Pradhan, a recent graduate from Drexel University, suffered an accident and broke his femur. Unable to move, 911 was immediately called and he was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia.
He went through surgery the same day, and the doctors had to fix metal implants in his left leg to help his leg heal. He has been in the hospital every since and is going through intense physical therapy so he can return to normal as soon as possible. The doctors have estimated that it will take around 3 months for him to be able to walk correctly but it will take around 9 months for the bone to fully heal. He had been through the same process 10 years ago when he was in Kathmandu and it’s just very unfortunate that this happened to him again.
Bibhav just completed his music business degree from Drexel and accepted a temp position from a major record label, in addition to multiple positions from different music business entities but because of this situation, his employment has come to a stop.
He came to the United States in 2018 for his undergraduate degree and ever since he started school, he had been struggling financially. Being an international student and trying to get his feet into a very tough industry has been mentally, physically, and financially exhaustive for him but when his efforts were finally starting to pay off, this accident happened and it turned his life upside down.
To further explain:
1) Bibhav was in the middle of moving apartments at the time of this incident and since he hadn’t signed the lease, he doesn’t have a place to stay after the discharge. Since he has an additional burden of paying the bills now, paying for rent is also going to be an issue
2) Since he was transitioning from his student life to his professional working life, he really doesn't have the money to pay for his expenses.
3) He had really good insurance from his school, but the insurance ran out right after his surgery and he can’t re-enroll into that since he graduated. He has another insurance now, but we are expecting the costs to be high regardless.
4) As an international student, he can only work in his own field and that also limits his employment opportunities.
5) He doesn’t have any family in the US which makes things even tougher for him to get through this issue.
I’ve known Bibhav since he was in middle school. He’s one of the most kind-hearted, funny, passionate, and a beautiful human being I have known. Life has been very rough for him since he has been struggling with his health since he was a kid and he desperately needs your help!
In his field, Bibhav has been recognized by the Music Business Association and National Association of Music Merchants and was making moves to distribute music into China. Bibhav also makes music of his own and collaborates with a lot of people. Unfortunately, all of these endeavors have come to a stop and right now, he is just focusing on healing.
