In March of 2015, Bibb came to Alabama Boston Terrier Rescue (ABTR) after being hit by a car and found unconscious on the side of the road. He had a left brain injury which presented with severe left head tilt and inability to stand without falling. He also had a protruding eye which could not be saved and was removed once he was stable.
The first 24 hours were crucial and prognosis was guarded but Bibb had a strong will to survive. Evelyn visited him daily to be sure he knew he was loved and all of ABTR was rooting for him. After a week in ICU he was released to go home with Evelyn. It was a long recovery for Bibb but he learned to walk again with Evelyn’s help. He found his spirit, running and chasing a tennis ball. He was officially adopted by Evelyn and David Bibb and is ABTR’s mascot, always with his tennis ball.
However, in November 2017, Bibb was diagnosed with stage 4 Aden Carcinoma and suffered multiple seizures that required immediate medical care. A nasal mass was pressing on the bone structure-into Bibb’s brain (causing seizures.) No treatment would have meant losing him almost immediately.
Bibb was taken to Mississippi State University for an MRI. Afterwards it was decided that Bibb would travel to North Carolina State University Vet School for stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT), the cost is $7,500. He responded well to the treatment and returned for his three month checkup in February 2018. CT scan revealed the nasal tumor was shrinking but also revealed a questionable area in the brain and a six week follow up was scheduled for April 2018. On April 20th a repeat nasal biopsy was performed ($1,800). Bibb’s follow up appointments now total $5,000.
As you can see from the info above, Bibb’s treatment is expensive but he’s worth every penny! Even with everything going on, he still manages to give kisses to the staff. He’s even been known to carry his ball into the treatments. What a sweetheart!
No donation is too small, thank you for helping sweet Bibb.
