My name is Bianca Baez and I have been sick for some time now. I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer about 9 months ago and through radiation, chemo and the support of my friends and family I was able to beat it.
My recovery was bumpy but I felt like I was getting better, stronger. Unfortunately a few days before Thanksgiving I woke up at 5am in excruciating pain and was taken via ambulance to North Shore Medical Center. There I was visited by surgeons who informed me that my intestines were perforated, I was suffering from sepsis and would need emergency surgery. This was due to the radiation treatment. I spent 22 days in the hospital and was released about 2 weeks ago to continue my recovery.
The surgery left me with a large wound in my abdomen that must heal from the inside out and be cared for by a nurse that visits daily.
The reason for this campaign is to help me get by while I recover, I will not be able to work until my wound heals and I will require physical therapy as well. The mounting bills (rent, car payment etc.) for the coming months are already stressing me out.
The overwhelming support I received when I first got sick literally saved my life, I don't even have words for how grateful I am.
I'm hoping through this page I can finally recover in peace and be well. I thank anyone that has taken the time to read this and I look forward to high fiving you when this whole mess is nothing but a bad memory.
