Bianca Faith Fund

On  July 4th 2017  Bianca Faith Johnson was riding home from Jones Beach in Long Island with her Christian Motorcycle Club when the arm of a draw bridge came down suddenly, without warning, and caused Bianca and her fellow riders to be ejected from their bikes.  Bianca was the second rider to come in contact with the barrier and sustained the most severe injuries. She was immediately rushed to Nassau University Hospital for surgery. Bianca had suffered a ruptured spleen, several broken ribs, two lung punctures, internal bleeding, and the fracture of her thoracic spine which resulted in her being paralyzed from the chest down.  After regaining consciousness, Bianca had to face the harsh realities of her injuries: she is confined to a wheelchair. 

What might have dampened the spirit of others, only created a spirit of fierce determination in Bianca. She leaves her home every day to go to work, church, medical appointments, preaching opportunities, and continues to pursue speaking engagements. She has not allowed the parameters of her injuries to define her. She lives a full and meaningful life for she is a woman of strong faith and a living testimony of her trust in the power of God.  She is longstanding member St. Albans Baptist Church.15 years and where as an Associate Minister she continues to serve.

Doors have constantly been opening as she has been afforded the opportunity to preach the gospel at several churches and performed spoken word pieces at numerous venues and conferences. Incredibly, she continues to teach step and dance to the youth at her church while in her wheel chair, heads mentorship programs, and much more. In addition,she has had the opportunity to be an international missionary (Kenya, Haiti, and Vietnam), where she preached, served, and shared her passion and gift for liturgical dancing and helped to establish several ministries abroad that have been growing and thriving. 

In September, 2017 just two months after her accident, Bianca returned to her job in the Queens College SEEK Program as a Supplemental Instructor in English.  There, she continues to work two days a week for 15 hours and she enjoys the interaction and support from the SEEK family.  Also, in September 2017 Bianca, who is a poet and a spoken word performer, was invited and was able to perform an original spoken word piece entitled "Necessary" at the Circle of Sisters Expo on September 20th at the Jacob Javits Center before an audience of thousands.

Bianca Faith Johnson is currently a third year Law student at Touro Law Center in Central Islip, NY and a first year MBA student at Long Island University (CW Post). Bianca graduated from Queens College in 2013 with a BA in English. She aspires to be an International Sports and Entertainment Law Attorney.  Recently, Bianca was offered a summer 2018 internship in London at "New Media," a major Sports and Entertainment Law Firm. She is fervently praying and hoping to be able to take advantage of this opportunity. 

While Bianca continues to receive many blessings, there have also been some challenges. Several weeks ago, just after the six month anniversary of her accident, Bianca found her boyfriend of five years, deceased in his apartment on January 11, 2018. That not only shook the very foundations of her world but she also lost a pivotal supporter in many ways but none more so than his constant encouragement and speaking her miracle into existence.  After much prayer, Bianca realized that she was wounded but not broken and had to remember the "cost of her call."

Bianca continues to be extremely intentional about her healing and restoration and was recently accepted into a facility located in Oakland, NJ named "Push to Walk." The facility is the only one of its kind in the Northeast  Region, and is completely tailored to serve those with spinal cord injuries and paralysis. One of their missions is to "use training methods to help clients regain strength, function, and independence." Being a nonprofit organization, they do not take insurance and Bianca has to pay $100 per hour for her weekly treatment. 

For Bianca, everyday is not a walk in the park, but she is a strong believer that any day above ground deserves a joyful sound.  She gives praise and thanks to her ambitious mother, Katrina Johnson, who supports her in every way, her Godparents, Ron and Rev. Kalima Wilson, and praying elders who have travelled on this journey with her. Although her journey is just beginning, she has the faith that with time, patience, hard work, and prayer, she will indeed walk again! As she lives life day by day, Bianca is following the voice of the Lord. She does not know why so much has happened to her but she believes that it was necessary to accomplish the things God has purposed for her life; so let the work begin.
