Hi everyone. My name is Taylor and Bianca has been one of my best friends since middle school. On July 27th, Bianca went into cardiac arrest and received her wings. Bianca was a rare soul. As I sit here and write her name in past tense, it doesn’t feel right. In 2017 when Bianca was only 22, she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure while pursuing her undergraduate degree at Iowa State. She was hospitalized 9 times within a 6 month period and was put on the national heart transplant list. On September 10th, 2017 she was hospitalized while waiting for a new heart and was told if she didn’t receive a heart, she wouldn’t make it past 4 months. On October 5th, 2017 she received a heart and got a second chance at life. Since then, Bianca has had a new outlook on life. She didn’t let this transplant slow her down, in fact, she used it as an opportunity to go harder in life. I could write a book with the amount of accomplishments she had during these last 5 years. From studying to become a physician, starting a YouTube channel, running the show at NYFW, starting a brand consulting company, and SO much more, Bianca really did it all.
This past January, Bianca had another open heart surgery to fix a leaky valve right after her 27th birthday. She spent over a month recovering in the hospital alone. Because of Covid, she wasn’t allowed to have any visitors or leave her room. This was really tough on her. Weeks later they finally started to allow her one visitor per day. Her mom and dad took turns visiting her every single day. While in the hospital, Bianca spent time not only re-learning basic mobility functions, but also started brainstorming new business ideas. She never let her condition stop her from living out her dreams.
Bianca was the definition of strength. Despite the physical and emotional pain she was in from time to time, she was always there for anyone she met. You needed a ride? She’s got you. You needed money? She’s got you. Your stomach hurt? She’s suggesting foods and meds to take. I have never met someone more selfless than Bianca. She was someone you could meet for 5 minutes and feel like you knew for a lifetime. She never wanted sympathy or help, she just wanted to create everlasting memories and live life to the fullest.
Bianca’s parents were her rock. And if you’ve met them, you’d understand why. Bertha and Grasso are the two strongest, most loving & caring parents on this planet. They gave Bianca the best life and was with her literally every step of her journey. As some of you know, Bianca had an older sister that passed away a few years prior to her initial heart transplant. I cannot even begin to think of the pain they are experiencing now that they have lost both their daughters to medical conditions. They have spent so many years attending doctors visits, ER visits, a heart transplant that cost over 1 million dollars, and are now preparing to send forth their baby girl.
Please consider donating anything you can to help them out. If you aren’t able to donate, please share this Go Fund Me with others. They are also like Bianca and would never ask for help, so I’m trying to make Bianca’s transition easiest as possible.
With love,
Taylor
