Help for Zach

Zach’s journey began at the age of 22 months when a cancerous brain tumour was discovered. On October 8, 1993 he required surgery at the IWK Hospital in Halifax, NS to remove the tumour and insert a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt. After six weeks in hospital, his growth and development proceeded normally. He had a normal, happy, healthy life, graduated from college and married in 2019. Our miracle!!

Fast-forward to September 2021, Zach, now 29, began having issues and required more neurosurgery, living in PEI, and the nearest neurology unit was in Moncton, NB.

Sadly, Zach encountered major medical issues and developed a massive infection which impacted the function of the VP shunt. He has been in and out of ICU since early December 2021, enduring multiple surgeries, tests and medical challenges, all while being away from his wife and family.

Zach had his entire shunt system replaced on January 20, 2022, and is still being treated for critical medical issues which have significantly affected his strength and physical abilities.

We have set up this GoFundMe to provide some financial assistance for Zach to ease the financial burden. Since September, he has been in hospital, thus unable to work and has no other income. All savings have been depleted, and Zach will not be able to work for the foreseeable future as he requires extensive rehabilitation.

We ask for your prayers and positive thoughts. Zach is a young man of great faith!
