Empower Asheville: Together We Rise Again

Hello,

My name is Lindsey Gray-Komasara. I live in Michigan, but I use to live in the mountains of North Carolina. I'm raising funds alongside Melanie Kirgan for the people of Asheville and the mountains of North Carolina. They have been hit badly by hurricane Helene, and much of their town has been damaged, destroyed, and flooded. One of my best friends and Melanie's sister, Autum Kirgan, and her partner, Justin Mitchell, live there and we want to help bring resources to them and their neighbors.

There are two apartment complexes next door that house over 200 people, many who are elderly and disabled, and can’t get out of their homes to get food and water. Between Melanie and my familial connections in the Charlotte area, we have already mobilized a few truck loads up the mountain. These trucks contained basic supplies, including gas, water, and baby formula. Cell service continues to improve in Asheville so we are in daily contact with Autum, and she is letting us know what they all need.

100% of the funds raised will go towards supplies needed, like large containers to hold water for daily chores and shower,

socks, underwear,

gas money for drivers,

first aid kits,

portable batteries/chargers/battery packs,

hygiene items,

hand sanitizer,

buckets and trash bags,

baby formula/baby food/diapers/wipes,

adult briefs,

flashlights/headlamps,

pet food,

paper products,

OTC medicines,

This list will continue to evolve and grow.

Autum and Justin are amazing humans and staples in the Asheville community. Autum owns a well-established acupuncture clinic, South Slope Acupuncture & Wellness, and Justin is a real estate broker at Mosaic Community Lifestyle Realty, as well as a DJ, and photographer. They have two amazing dogs, named Willow and Cedar.

The people of Asheville and Western NC are in desperate need of support, and a donation of any size would be greatly appreciated. All of the funds raised will go directly to Autum, her neighbors, and local charities. There is a long list of items the people of Asheville need, and even the smallest of donations will help go towards this goal.
