On March 4, 2017, our prayers were finally answered as my beloved sister, Diane Moen underwent a liver transplant at the University of Minnesota. Seven years ago, Diane was diagnosed with Hepatopulmonary Syndrome, and her only hope was to eventually get a liver transplant. The road to this point has proven to be a challenging one for Diane and her family.  At the time of her diagnosis, her failing health forced her to quit the job she loved, for more than 30 years, as a Social Worker.  Her health kept steadily declining until she was no longer able to keep up with everyday tasks and needed increasing amounts of oxygen just to get around. The long awaited call that she finally would get her transplant was truly a miracle.
Diane's journey with this illness has brought on countless doctor visits, hospital stays, and numerous medical tests.  All the while, Diane and her family have been trying to stay afloat with everyday living expenses and a continuous stream of medical bills.  Not once have the Moen's asked for any sort of financial assistance. I have taken it upon myself to create this GoFundMe page for Diane, because I know how much this financial burden has affected them, and I want nothing more than for her and her husband to enjoy this second chance at life.
Diane spent 2 1/2 weeks in Intensive Care at the U of M Hospital following her transplant and then was transferred to Bethesda Hospital, where she spent
6 1/2 weeks receiving constant care until she was able to get along without her trach and feeding tube. Those milestones were met and I am happy to say she was
finally stable enough to be transferred to a skilled nursing facility on May 8, 2017.  She will continue to receive therapy there until she  will finally be able to go home in the near future.
Our prayers have been answered, and her transplant has clearly been a success, she looks wonderful! I love my sister dearly and look forward to sharing life with her again and I'm so happy she will be able to enjoy her first grandchild due in June.
Diane has always lived life with such joy and compassion, never complaining, and always putting others before herself.  I want to thank everyone for all of the well wishes and prayers for her recovery and if you feel like donating any amount to help with her medical bills and expenses,  it would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!
