Bharat's Fight against Liver Cancer Needs our help

Dear friends, family, and compassionate donors,

I am writing to you today to appeal for your help in supporting a young man named Bharath Pulipati. Bharath is an international student from India who is currently on OPT and he had been diagnosed with a liver cancer (Hepatocellular Carcinoma HCC) that required a liver transplant for him to survive. Liver transplant is expensive, and the insurance might not cover all of the costs. And concerned about the long wait times for organ transplants, as well as the risk of complications during surgery and reoccurrence of tumors. Bharat's liver transplant treatment is expected to last for 6-9 months, during which he will need to undergo several medical procedures and take multiple medications.

Unfortunately, the chemotherapy has taken a toll on his body affecting the spinal cord at T6-T7 vertebrae, the incident left Bharath paralyzed his lower body, due to which he is unable to walk without assistance apart from that he has no sensation below his waist. According to doctors his recovery may take up to 6-18 months to regain strength and mobility. To regain his strength and mobility he requires outpatient rehabilitation and physical therapy to get back on his feet.

Determined efforts of Bharath and his supporters, he raised 10k $ through a fundraiser, although this amount wont be sufficient for his upcoming his treatment. Bharat's student health insurance coverage will end in June, and future premiums are going to be prohibitively expensive for him because of preexisting condition. With his leg not working, he cannot work and earn an income to support himself, let alone pay for the life-saving liver transplant he needs. On top of this, he is also unable to get insurance coverage due to his medical condition and trying hard to get insurance. The cost of his treatment is expensive, and he needs financial assistance to cover the out-of-pocket maximums, post-operative care, and independence. The estimated cost of Bharat's treatment is a staggering $850,000 without insurance. This is a sum that is simply beyond the means of most individuals and families, and we are asking for your help in raising the funds that Bharat needs to overcome this life-threatening illness.

Even with health insurance, which will a portion of the cost of the transplant, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they are as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

Bharath incurs substantial expenses each time he visits for evaluations and doctors’ appointments. When he receives his transplant, Bharath will need to stay near the hospital, during recovery, adding to the financial strain.

We appeal to your kindness and generosity to help Bharath get the medical treatment he needs to overcome this cancer and regain his life. Any amount that you can contribute will go a long way in covering his medical expenses and help him get back on his feet.
