Bhakta Basnet

On February 16, 2024 Basnet family lost a humble soul. Bhakta Basnet was born to Jas and Basan Basnet in Chirang Bhutan on March 26,1956 who migrated to Gelephu at the age of 8. He tied his knot with Dhan Maya Basnet(maiden :Budathoki ).

As a usual tradition in Bhutan, farming and wood craving was his distinct skills with which he had countless memories.

During mass exodus in 1992, his family left Bhutan and resettled to Sanischare Refugee camp. During two decades stay in the camp, he nurtured his 5 children with his wife.

Bhakta’s new chapter of life began when he lead his family for resettlement in the US in May 2009. As a proud grandfather, he experienced his grandchildren grow up in his lap and created some unforgettable memories with him.

Just 4 months ago he was diagnosed with a cancer and left us all.

This fundraiser has been created to assist with his ritual procedure and to extend mana-chaamal in his name.
