A Celebration, Remembrance, and Lasting Tribute: The Olivia Warley Gutoff Memorial Scholarship Fund
In memory of Olivia Warley Gutoff, the family is establishing the Olivia Warley Gutoff Memorial Scholarship Fund, to help an aspiring and worthy high school artist to go to college to study Music Education and performance. Our hope is that this student will inspire, encourage, and influence many lives through music education, as our Olivia did.
Olivia inspired so many students in so many ways, and always loved to keep up with them in her retirement years. Hearing from past students brought her much joy. Her letters of recommendation and musical training for her students gave the requisite boost for their careers; some moving on to major symphony orchestras and teaching positions. She literally started many on their chosen instrument who went on to stellar careers and teaching. She always loved hearing from all of her students. While some students did not necessarily go on to become professional musicians, they learned the discipline and teamwork necessary for their respective bands and orchestras to earn the highest ratings and scores and to perform at the highest levels; skills that carry over into life. She created memories for all of her students, from first to last chair players, and left them with confidence and inspiration.
So many have taken her commitment to excellence, and have used the confidence and skills they learned from her to succeed in life; no matter what their profession. We will miss her greatly but she already has left a legacy.
This scholarship is a small token of our thanks for all of life’s lessons she consistently taught over the years. We hope to help send another star into orbit who can inspire young people, as she clearly did.
