Hey guys! As many of you know my mom, Susan Neal, started having unexplainable seizures in her 40s. Her and my dad have seen numerous doctors around Texarkana and also in the Dallas area. Everyone wanted to diagnose her with Epilepsy and be done, but they knew there was more to it. They continued seeing doctors and having tests done with no answers. Finally, in March they went to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. They were finally given some answers. They found two encephalocels in her brain causing her to have seizures. They had to come back home and wait for the neurosurgeon to get back in town to schedule more appointments. They went back to the Mayo Clinic this past Monday April 11 and hooked her up to monitors to wait until she had more seizures. Today, April 12, she had 4 seizures. 1 granmal and 3 focal seizures! This was the first time we were excited she had seizures because at least now it was recorded and the doctors could move forward. The neurosurgeon came in and scheduled her to have a left temporal encephalocel craniotomy next Thursday April 21. I know that my parents will hate that I set this up, but while my mom isn't work she doesn't get paid. She has no paid leave and my dad's PTO has also almost run out after being off with her so much. They will be in Minnesota for a minimum of a month and there is no telling how long it will be before my mom can work again. This is stressful enough for them and I would love for anyone who wants to help with monetary donations to please help. Share this around and let's at least relieve one stressor.
