Deltaz Studio Relief - Woolsey Fire
Donation protected
Unfortunately the fire insurance for our home does not include the structures we had built for the studio, thats why we are asking for your help.

- Remains of the house
On November 9th, 2018 our lives were changed forever when we were evacuated from our home in the canyons on Mulholland Highway in Malibu, CA due to the Woolsey Fire. We frantically gathered our belonging and the contents of our recording studio, but there were some things that just couldn’t be taken with us or there was not enough time to retrieve. As we drove out of our driveway we could see the canyon we had lived in for 20 years engulfed in flames and we knew but didn’t want to believe this could be the last time we would see our home.
The next day we began the journey to break the road blocks into Malibu and drive up into the canyons to see if we still had a home. We were hopeful when we first crossed the initial road blocks and made our way along PCH to Mulholland Highway. But the second we turned up on to Mulholland the scene turned grim. Downed power lines and rockslides littered the road we had driven on for the last 20 years. During our hour drive up into the canyon we passed home after home that was now rendered ashes in the wake of the Woolsey Fire. As we passed a now rubble Camp Bloomfield on our road we knew it was likely we didn’t have a home. We finally turned the corner of Mulholland on the road that stretches passed our driveway and saw the first view of what once was our home.

- Recording at the Yurt with the late Rick Rosas
There was nothing left. A fire burned steadily in what once was our living room, the Yurt live room of our once standing studio was reduced to a dozen or so cinderblocks that had held up the foundation. It was traumatic picking through the rubble that was our home for the last 20 years. Our studio and everything we left behind was now gone.

- Where the Yurt once was
Over the last 10 years the Yurt and our attached recording studio had become a critical part of lives. We had recorded our last 4 Deltaz albums there along with dozens of other local and national acts from all over the country. It was a place we built creative memories and made some of the work we were most proud of as musicians. We have been overwhelmed by the out pouring of musicians that have contacted us in the aftermath of this disaster to give there condolences and share their stories of there time at our recording studio (Mulholland Recording). We are determined to rebuild, better and more fire prepared then ever!

- Recording with our buddies the Zmed Brothers in the Yurt
Fortunately during the evacuation we were able to get the majority of our equipment out. What we need help replacing is our control room and yurt which were not covered by our fire insurance. Our plan is to rebuild our recording studio control room in a trailer as a mobile record rig. This will allow us to get the studio back up and running as soon as possible and allow us to have an easily transportable studio space in the event of another evacuation. We have to be realistic about the increasingly prevalent threat of fire danger in the canyons of southern California. We are resolved to build a studio that is the most fire danger prepared and we feel this mobile solution would be the best option.

In addition to the rebuilding of our studio the other obstacle we’re faced with is the decimation of our community. We both gig as The Deltaz, four nights a week between our long time residency at The Old Place, local performances and the studio we have made a modest living for the last 10 years. Due to the Woolsey Fire our currently livelihood is none-existent. For at least the next month we will have no income to support ourselves. So in this time of disaster we ask for your help.
This is what we plan to use the funds we raise for:
Replacement Yurt: $18,000.00
Yurt Foundation and Installation: $5,000.00
Recording Trailer: $15,000.00
Living Expenses: $1,000.00
Replacement Studio Equipment: $1,000.00
