Bismillah.
Peace and blessing, my name is Na'im Beyah. I'm raising funds for my father, Charles, in the care of his loving wife, Beatrice.
In Arabic, 'Beyah' means 'Protector, Keeper.'
My Pops taught me how to protect, provide, and be a keeper to family and community. We're now in need of a community of supporters.

Medical Journey:
Charles's profound medical journey began on June 19, 2019. While attending prayer at The Islamic Center of Rochester, he suddenly collapsed and was rushed to the hospital in a coma. After he was stabilized, doctors said he'd suffered cardiac arrest, had been clinically dead for sixteen minutes, and had no brain activity. They told his family to "start preparing" for his death. With the prayers of his community and the grace of Allah, Charles awoke from his coma five days later and started his long road to recovery. Charles would eventually have surgery to have placement of a defibrillator containing a pacemaker for his heart condition.

The next few years consisted of trips back and forth to the doctors for checkups and physical therapy. The physical therapy was successful, and he slowly learned to walk again using a cane. With that success, a new issue arose: Charles had numerous urinary tract infections that affected his cognitive abilities. We believe this eventually led to what doctors have identified as early-stage dementia.

This new challenge has set back his physical progress, as Charles now needs around-the-clock care. He was admitted to a nursing home with hopes of getting to a place where he could return home in the care of his loving wife. In August 2023, Charles reached his goal and was released from the nursing home. Happy to be back home, Charles did not return the same, and his ordeal has left a trail of medical bills and many waiting on the horizon.

Your generous donations are needed for the following:
  • Medical bills.
  • Wheelchair/handicap-accessible vehicle.
  • Home accommodation for mobility and safety.

At a young age, he cultivated a passion for reading that would shape his future, leading him to adopt the motto, "Reading is the key to success." Charles pursued a career in education and mentorship, starting by working with youth at a juvenile detention center. He further advanced his career after obtaining a master's degree and joining the Rochester City School District. Starting as a history teacher, Charles became an administrator, serving as a role model, mentor, and father figure to many Rochester inner-city middle and high school students.
