As you may be aware, residents of Flint, Michigan still lack access to potable water more than FOUR years after elevated levels of lead were detected in their water supply. While the state started has been providing bottled water to Flint households, our neighbors still have significant unmet needs everyday.
The Biomedical Graduate Student Government (BGSG, previously BASH) has organized a Flint drive for the past three years and is committed to aid in the relief efforts throughout this water crisis. Beginning November 19th and continuing through December 20, BGSG will be collecting monetary donations and personal care items for the residents of Flint who are still suffering from the shortage of clean water. If you would like to give personal care items (such as baby wipes, diapers, hand-sanitizer, cortisone cream, and shower products), please bring them to the donation box in the PIBS office or in your department office. You can also give monetary donations right here! As an extra incentive, the PIBS department that donates the largest sum of money per student will be given donuts at the end of the collection period!
To quickly recap:
Who? All faculty, staff, and students (you!)
What? Monetary donations and personal care items
When? November 19th through December 20th
Where? PIBS office or in your department office, and right here!
Why? To help our neighbors in Flint (and hopefully win donuts in the process)
Don't forget to add your department name along in the donation description!
Thanks in advance for your generosity!
