Hey, I’m Quinn, a 20-year-old non-binary trans person from Germany. A year ago, I started this fundraiser. At that time, I didn’t have a job or any income of my own. That has changed: I’m now working and saving as much as I can every month.

So far, 165 € have been raised through this campaign. In total, I’ve managed to save about 1,400 € of the 10,000 € I need.

Even so, I still depend on support.

After paying rent and spending only the absolute minimum on food (not a single cent on extras), I’m left with around 200–250 € per month that I can put aside. At this rate, it would take many more years before I could afford the surgery. I can’t and don’t want to wait that long.

I’ve been living with severe dysphoria since my early teens. Since I was 12 or 13, I’ve worn a binder almost every single day. In the first years, unfortunately not even safe ones — just cheap models with side hooks, sometimes even two layered on top of each other. That has left lasting damage. My back and ribs are heavily strained and in near-constant pain.

Now, I can maybe wear a binder for an hour at a time — if that. Especially in summer, this means barely leaving the house, constantly feeling uncomfortable in my body, and having to endure physical pain.

I’ve known since I was 13 or 14 that I need this surgery. This isn’t a spontaneous decision; it’s something that has been with me for years.

In Germany, top surgery is generally covered by health insurance, but it requires a therapist’s letter of indication. And that’s exactly the problem: I’ve been searching for a therapy spot for years. The waiting lists are extremely long. Even if I finally found a place, the whole process would be delayed further.

As a self-paying patient, I could have the surgery much sooner. But for that, I need support.
