Hello, my name is Mark, and I’m reaching out for help for my French Bulldog, Bear. He’s 5-and-a-half years old and the sweetest, most loyal companion to me and my family.

Since Sunday, Bear has been in excruciating pain—letting out sudden yelps, trembling, and struggling to move. I took him to the Emergency Animal Hospital later that day. The doctor said she thought it was his neck causing the pain. They prescribed some meds and said no activity for 2 weeks and monitor him to see if he improved. As of yesterday, he had not improved and the yelps of pain were getting more frequent. Today I took him to see a neurologist, and after her exam she told me that Bear has a herniated disc in his neck. She explained that he needs an MRI right away, and if the results confirm her findings, Bear will require immediate surgery.

The cost of the MRI and surgery together will likely reach $8,000–$12,000, and possibly more depending on his recovery needs. I want to do everything I can to give Bear a chance at a full and pain-free life, but these expenses are more than I can handle on my own.

Bear is more than just a pet—he’s family. He’s my daughter’s little buddy, my shadow at home, and a source of love and joy every single day. Watching him suffer and not being able to help is heartbreaking.
