Megan’s cancer treatment
Beschermde donatie
On Tuesday, June 7th, my sister went into the emergency room because she thought she had an ear infection that wasn’t getting better. Later that night we found out that the CT scan showed she had a mass on cerebellum. She was admitted to the hospital for more imaging. The MRI done confirmed that she had a tumor on her cerebellum. Our hearts sank, after already having breast cancer this was not a good sign. On Thursday, June 9th she underwent surgery to have her brain tumor removed. Now the waiting game was on, was this a new form of cancer or was her breast cancer back.
Later this week, her oncologist confirmed our biggest fear. Her breast cancer has returned as Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Along with the tumor that was removed from her brain, she also has lung and liver metastasizes. Radiation treatment will be done on the brain and chemotherapy for the lungs and liver. She has been referred to the Cleveland Clinic as well for any clinic trial options available.
Megan is 25 and has so much life ahead of her. She recently finished her first year of teaching which brought so much joy to her life. We are hoping to raise money to help my sister and family with these unexpected medical experiences. I also ask that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult and uncertain time. Thank you!
