Our hearts are heavy as we share the devastating news that my aunt’s home, where she lived with her family of five, was completely destroyed in a house fire. There is nothing left—everything they owned, every memory held within those walls, has been lost in the flames. Thankfully, they all made it out safely, including their beloved dog, but we are now desperately searching for their beloved cat Merlin who is still missing. She is a black and white cat, very sweet but likely scared, and was last seen near 21 Mile and Heydenreich Road. With so much already lost, finding her would bring a small light to this incredibly dark time. If you live nearby or happen to be in the area, please keep an eye out—check under porches, in sheds, garages, or anywhere a frightened animal might hide. Any sightings or information would mean the world, as they are now left with only the clothes on their backs and the strength of each other. My aunt is the kindest, most selfless person I know—someone who goes out of her way to help anyone in need without ever expecting anything in return. Whether it’s offering a warm meal, a place to stay, or simply a listening ear, she gives with her whole heart, quietly making a difference in the lives of so many.
