¡Una mano amiga para Jesús! #SiALaVida #NoAlCarcinomaCorticalAdrenal
Jesús es ese venezolano amigo que no sabe decir que no, es el que se ofrece a llevarte cuando lo necesitas, es el que te compra el producto de tu emprendimiento para impulsarte, es el que ayuda a los vecinos a hacer guardia cuando hace falta, es el que a pesar de estar ocupado siempre atiende a sus clientes, amigos, familia. Es el que, a pesar de estar cansado, sale si es necesario. Es el apoyo de muchos, el de la sonrisa radiante, el que habla y conoce a “medio mundo”. Es la pareja que te impulsa, que te apoya, que te ama incondicionalmente. Es el hermano e hijo querido. ¿Sus pasiones? Su pareja (yo), el diseño, la computación, la comida, compartir con la familia y reunirse con los amigos.
Jesús tiene desde hace más de diez años una hernia umbilical a la que no le prestó mucha atención, como pasa muchas veces, porque parece que “no es nada”. Pero el año pasado comenzó a ser un poco más grande y cuando lo hablábamos, tomó conciencia y decidió operarse. Comenzó a hacerse los exámenes en la Clínica Dispensario Padre Machado y lo atendió el Dr. Rafael Badell (cirujano de vías digestivas). Durante el ecosonograma abdominal se le detectó un LOE (Lesión Ocupante de Espacio) ecomixta, de aspecto sólido en el espacio hepato renal y se le recomendó realizarse una Tomografía Computada con contraste oral e indovenoso.
Se hizo la tomografía y allí se confirmó una Lesión predominantemente quística con papila sólida y calcificaciones en la glándula suprarrenal derecha de 80 mm de diámetro. Volvimos a asistir a consulta con el Dr. Rafael Badell y nos indicó que este tipo de tumor, debía ser atendido por un especialista y nos recomendó al Dr. Franklyn García Peña (Cirujano endocrino).
Al día siguiente logramos coordinar con el doctor y nos indicó que era urgente vernos, así que nos encontramos con él el domingo 11/08 en el Instituto Médico La Florida. Allí nos indicó que existía una alta probabilidad (95%) de que el tumor por sus características fuese maligno y que existía la posibilidad de quitarle el riñón derecho, en caso de ser necesario. En este momento está contraindicado hacerle una biopsia, deben quitar el tumor y una vez extraído, se le puede practicar la patología.
En el informe del Dr. Franklyn García Peña se indica que existe una posibilidad real de CARCINOMA CORTICAL ADRENAL, por lo cual recomienda que con premura se le practique una cirugía: ADRENALECTOMÍA DERECHA POR LAPAROTOMÍA AMPLIA + VACIAMIENTO AORTOCAVO + CURA OPERATORIA DE HERNIA UMBILICAL, acotando que el riñón derecho está a riesgo de resección. Esta operación está prevista realizarse en el Instituto Médico La Florida y tiene proyectado un tiempo de ejecución de 6 a 8 horas en quirófano.
Lamentablemente Jesús no está amparado por un seguro de salud y vivimos en Venezuela donde adicionalmente a que la cirugía es muy costosa, tenemos el factor de la hiperinflación en bolívares y en dólares (aunque cueste creerlo), sin contar el tratamiento médico inmediato que va a requerir posterior a la operación. Por eso hoy estamos aquí, apostando a la solidaridad de todos los que quieran colaborar.
Espero que el universo le retribuya a Jesús su bondad, en sus buenos deseos y su mano amiga.

Jesus is that Venezuelan friend who doesn’t know how to say no, he is the one who offers you a ride when you need it, he is the one who buys you the product for your startup venture to support you, he is the one who helps the neighbors by keeping guard when needed, he is the one who even if he’s busy, he always attends to his clients, friends and family. He is the one who, despite being tired, goes out if necessary. He is the support of many, always with a radiant smile and a kind word for everybody and who knows "everyone in town". He’s the partner that drives you, that supports you, that loves you unconditionally. He’s the dear brother and son. His passions? His partner (me), designing, computer science, food, sharing with the family and meeting with friends.
Jesus has had an umbilical hernia for more than ten years, which he didn’t pay much attention to, as it happens a lot, because it didn’t “seem important”. But last year it started to get a little bigger and when we talked about it, he became aware of it and decided to remove it. The examinations began at the Padre Machado Dispensary Clinic and were attended by Dr. Rafael Badell (digestive tract surgeon). During the abdominal echo sonogram, he detected a space-occupying lesion with a solid appearance in the hepatic renal space and therefore a Computed Tomography with oral and endovenous contrast was recommended.
The tomography was done and a predominantly cystic lesion with solid papillary and calcifications in the right adrenal gland of 80 mm in diameter was confirmed. We returned to consult with Dr. Rafael Badell and he indicated that this type of tumor should be attended by a specialist and recommended Dr. Franklyn García Peña (Endocrine Surgeon).
The next day, we managed to coordinate with Dr. García and he said that it was urgent to see us, so we met him on Sunday 08/11 at La Florida Medical Institute. There, he indicated that there was a high probability (95%) that due to the tumor’s characteristics it was malignant and that there was the possibility of having to remove the right kidney as well, if necessary. At this moment it is contraindicated to do a biopsy, as they must first remove the tumor and once removed, the pathology can be performed.
Dr. García’s report indicates that there is a real possibility of ADRENAL CORTICAL CARCINOMA, so he recommends that surgery must be carried out promptly: LAPAROSCOPIC RIGHT ADRENALECTOMY + AORTO CAVO EMPTYING + UMBILICAL HERNIA SURGERY CURE, stating that the right kidney is at risk of resection. This operation is planned to be carried out at La Florida Medical Institute and has a projected execution time of 6 to 8 hours in the Operating Room.
Unfortunately, Jesus is not covered by health insurance due to Venezuela’s situation, and in addition to the fact that the surgery is very expensive, we have a hyperinflation factor in bolivars (our local currency) as well as in dollars (hard to believe!), and also the cost of immediate medical treatment that he will require post operation has to be added. That is why we are here today betting on the solidarity of those who want to collaborate.
