On the morning of February 6, 2023, the people of Turkey, Syria and Lebanon woke up to two of the deadliest earthquakes coming at magnitudes of 7.8 and 7.6. The World Health Organization put the number of people -- both Turkish and Syrian -- affected by the disaster at 23 million.
