Paul Eldred Medical Fund

Paul is experiencing yet another medical challenge and we could use some help, both prayer support and financial.

A little background: we were Christian workers in Turkey for 12 + years and, while there, Paul became quite sick.  He was in kidney failure as a result of his diabetes and his Turkish nephrologist said he needed to be on kidney dialysis.  We returned to America in late June of 2017 but, due to lack of insurance, he did not begin dialysis until October when he went on Medicare.  Because of the wait, he almost died.  He began dialysis, in Mankato, three times a week.

Paul also has had heart issues including an enlarged heart.  He received a pacemaker when we were still in Antalya.  In early spring 2018 he had heart bypass surgery.  Around that time, he also began taking insulin for his diabetes as the medication was no longer working.

From October 2017 until October 2019, Paul was on dialysis and we were desperately looking for a kidney.   Family members either were not a match or were disqualified for different reasons.  After trying many pleas for donors, we put signs on that back of our cars that we needed a kidney.  One came, in October 2019, through a plea on Paul's sister's car, a sister in Wisconsin, and a grieving family in Nebraska - with God weaving it all together!

Since that time, Paul has been on anti- rejection meds along with insulin and a number of other medications, several of which are not totally covered by insurance.  While his insulin is covered (though not  the one he prefers) many of the supplies were not.  We begin to get more and more in debt between gas for trips to Mankato three times a week, uncovered medical equipment and medication expenses.

Over the last weekend (May 31 - June 1) Paul became very ill.  On Monday, I took him to the Emergency Room in Mankato and, later that night, they transferred him Rochester Mayo Methodist Hospital and he is on the transplant floor.  They found two infections which had traveled to his blood and a smaller UTI.  It looks like they will release him on Friday but he needs a special pump for antibiotics for the next 30 days.  Insurance does not cover this.  We were just told that the cost would be $600+.  We just don't have that amount and, due to his health, he can only work a few hours a week.   We are struggling, as it is, with uncovered medical expenses and paying credit card bills from when Paul was on dialysis.  Now we are adding the equipment to dispense the antibiotics.  Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated as will any prayers on our behalf!
