Support Megan's Battle Against Cancer

Donation protected
My sister, Megan, is the most fun-loving, caring, stubborn, and sincere person you could ever meet. Throughout her whole life, she lives with the carefree mentality that "there's a lot to think about, but nothing to worry about", as our father would say if he were still with us today. She was born in Tampa, Florida, with a passion for everything near or on the water. As kids, we were raised with loving parents and grandparents, who took us to our family island house every summer. Dad taught us how to catch and clean fish, drive a boat, hunt for bait, and take full advantage of growing up in Florida. Mom encouraged us to be whatever we wanted, and do what makes us happy. Megan inherited her love for the ocean from dad and is now a Detail Director for a yacht management company while also working as an associate in yacht sales. Megan's motivation and ability to stay positive got her where she is now, and she continues to work hard every day. Recently, life decided to face her with a new challenge....cancer.

It's a terrifying word nobody wants to hear. For several weeks now, we've known something was wrong, but Meg chose to keep it to herself for several months or so, because she didn't want the people closest to her to worry. It's easier for her to accomplish this when she lives about 3 hours away from her family, but we are lucky she has good people around her that encouraged her to get checked out. Now we know, her diagnosis is DCIS breast cancer, and there's a plan in place. The good news is, it's 100% treatable and at the end of her journey, she should achieve remission. Her team of doctors and nurses are getting the process started. She’s had a port placed, will begin chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and hormone blockers. Chemo will be every 3 weeks for 18 weeks, then she will be reassessed to solidify the plan for surgery, either mastectomy or lumpectomy.  Even after surgery, she will need to continue treatment and have regular testing to monitor her progress.

As anyone can imagine, all of this comes with medical costs, not to mention the usual cost of living that will become difficult while she undergoes treatment and is out of work. Meg knows she will need help, yet she would never ask for it, so I'm creating this on her behalf to ask anyone willing and able to donate. Any amounts are welcome. Megan is going to get through this, we have no doubts about that, she's the toughest person I've ever known, but fighting cancer is hard enough, and stress will be a factor with her response to treatment, any willingness to help is appreciated.

We love you so much Meg,
Melissa
