This GoFundMe is to raise funds for two men (ex-college teammates) both in very difficult battles.
Drew Quinn
Help Support Drew Quinn in his Battle Against Glioblastoma
Drew Quinn is a beloved member of our community and a dedicated father. A proud graduate of Monroe City High School (Class of '93), Drew nurtured his passion for basketball at Hannibal La Grange College, where he played from 1996 to 1998. During his time at HLG, he and his teammates achieved the remarkable feat of reaching the National Tournament in 1998.
Following his graduation, Drew continued to share his love for the game by teaching high school math and coaching boys basketball at Hannibal High School for two years. He later moved to the warmer climates of Florida and South Carolina, where he dedicated the next 20 years to teaching math and coaching young athletes, inspiring countless students and players along the way.
In January 2025, Drew’s life took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma, a challenging type of brain cancer. Since then, he has bravely faced surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatment. Unfortunately, this debilitating disease has left him unable to work.
Drew is a dedicated father to his two daughters, Audra (14) and Ally (12), who live in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Throughout his treatment, Drew has focused on conserving his energy to support his daughters at their soccer games. Both girls are fierce competitors, embodying the same determination and spirit that Drew has always shown.
Your support can profoundly impact Drew’s journey as he navigates these challenging times. Please consider contributing to help cover medical expenses and provide support for his family during this difficult period. Every donation, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated and makes a difference.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
Chad Ballinger
Chad Ballinger played basketball at HLG from 1997 to 1999 and was part of the 1998 national tournament team. He later finished his college basketball career at Missouri Baptist. After working as a firefighter for a time, Chad made the selfless decision to stay home and care for his daughter Keely, who has a rare and severe case of Rett syndrome. Her condition requires constant, hands-on care, and Chad has devoted himself fully to her needs.
Chad and his wife Erin have three daughters: Aubrey (17), Alex (16), and Keely. Their family has always been a source of love, strength, and support—not just for one another, but for their entire community. Whether it's lending a hand, offering support, or simply being present when someone needs them most, the Ballingers have always stepped up.
Recently, Chad was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a devastating form of cancer. During his initial hospital visit, doctors discovered that his kidneys were only functioning at 10%, creating an immediate life-threatening situation. Due to the urgency, Chad has already begun treatment.
Now, it’s our turn to be there for Chad and his family. I’m asking for your support to help cover Chad’s mounting medical expenses and to provide some financial relief for their family during this incredibly difficult time.
Your contributions will not only help fund his treatment but also assist with daily living expenses like food, household bills, and caregiving support, as Erin shoulders these added responsibilities. Thank you for standing with the Ballinger family
Thank you
