Beyond The Binary: Abolition Teach- In is focused on analyzing and accessing the Prison Industrial Complex from an abolitionist politic. Both facilitators are organizers within their own right with focuses on cultivating a stronger community base using restorative practices.

The disproportionate numbers of Black and brown people in prisons are evidence that the innately racist system is merely an evolution of slavery. Beyond The Binary: Abolition Teach- In focuses on the ways bills like FOSTA/SESTA have devastating impact on the Black TGNC community, with a specific focus on Black Trans women. Instead of only talking about supporting Black trans women, we are moving to get people involved in direct forms of action by making space for community to dialogue and strategize on anti- carceral solutions for the survival of Black women, TLGBQ,  and TGNC people.

We are seeking funds to compensate Black Trans women involved in prison abolition work who will be our guest speakers (this includes food, travel, hotel/airbnb), to provide refreshments and food for the attendees ,  travel for those who are in need, child care for attendees and other basic materials.
