Beyond Me

Beyond me is a student run film created and directed by Isaac Brain. The film for Isaac is part of his final piece production at university. All crew on the film come from Falmouth University and are a mix of film and post production students. To create great films we need funding, thats where you come in! Please take the time to read through our page to learn a little about our film and its creators!

Synopsis

Through the recollection of childhood adventures and family journeys, this documentary captures the timeless beauty of memory, reminding us to live in the moment. Cherish the experiences we often take for granted, you may never get this opportunity again…

A film that explores the power of childhood adventures through the lens of Super 8 film reels to inspire life in the moment, cherishing the times that shape our lives.

Meet The Crew!

Executive Director and Sound Designer - Isaac Brain

Hi my name is isaac - 2 years ago i found a box of Super 8 film tapes in the corner of the attic of my childhood home…

Curious of these, i set out to solve the mystery: what was on these tapes and who do they belong to? After months of searching I found out both of these thins. Discovering a beautiful series of documentaries, in their own right. With a beautiful compilation of tapes embroided with memories of excitement. My film will explore the power of childhood adventures, utilising these Super 8 film reels as the key to inspire life in the moment.

Unknown to me, these tapes hold the memories of a whole families childhood adventures together.

Creative Director - Elizabeth

I’m Mari Elizabeth Davies, the creative director. I’m really happy to a part of this project as I love old video tapes and am excited to learn more about the stories that come with them!

Executive Producer - Luke Jenkins

I am producing for this production because of the amazing crew and the story around the tapes. Hearing the director talk about how he found the tapes and the family inspired me to look back at my own childhood footage and remancice, even when watching the footage for the film I felt a part of the family as we watched them on their holidays.

Assistant Producer and Director - Reuben Lewis Roythorne

Hi I’m Reuben. I am assisting in both producer and directorial roles on this film. Throughout my university career I have worked across both directing and producing. I have mainly done documentary work as I have a deep passion for telling stories. When Isaac approached me with this idea I instantly knew i wanted to be apart of it. His passion and excitement also drew me in to want to work alongside him. We have put a great crew together and we are all super excited to get started.

Director Of Photography - Joseph Tombleson

Im working on this documentary as the cinematographer to capture authentic, the real-world story through powerful visuals, allowing me to convey emotion and truth in a way that resonates with audiences.

Editing Team

Lead Editor - Carlos

Hi I’m Carlos and I’m really excited to be the editor on this project! After being told the idea by Isaac and seeing some of the tapes first hand I’m so excited to play with them and make a documentary that’s visual style is going to be beautiful!

Assitant Editor - Freya

Hello I am Freya, I have been very interested in films since starting college. That’s where I fell in love with editing. My role for this project will be edit assistant working along side Carlos. Documentaries have always stood out to me from both an editing point of view and also an enjoyable watch. This project being so unique with the found tapes; will be very interesting to create and to discover the stories behind them.

Budget

We are aiming towards a budget of £600. We have settled on a budget around this mark as our main expense is travel. This is because we want to film in one location with all three of our contributors. We also are going to be using an extensive kit list. To do all this we need to secure safe travel and secure storage locations on site. With your help we aim to raise this budget and bring Isaac's film to life. We are also raising to take this film to festival!
