Our Phillip was living the life as any teenager should - recently graduated, hanging out with friends, working a job he liked, and starting his first year of college. That great life is now seriously altered following an undiagnosed Epstein-Barr virus (mono) and a life-changing diagnosis. Early in the morning on February 11th, 2024 after being sick with cold symptoms for some time and being given steroids and antibiotics, Phillip called to Kyrie (his mom) and her husband Dan (his dad) for help. He was spitting up and couldn’t get out of bed. After an ambulance ride to the hospital, it was determined that Phillip has Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS) - a rare neurological disorder where the immune system attacks the nerves. Phillip was subsequently life flighted from one hospital to another and has been in the ICU since. In addition to the severe case of GBS, he's also had pneumonia, and acute respiratory failure where he requires support to breathe. Phillip's recovery will take months and require inspiration, motivation, and grit in enormous amounts. Phillip's fight follows Kyrie's (his mom's) fight last year. Kyrie was dealt a blow in December 2022 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Kyrie bravely weathered the medical interventions needed, and was poised to have a smooth, quiet, and joyful 2024.
The medical bills for Phillip's fight on the end of Kyrie's fight will soon become an additional challenge. Due to this, we are seeking any monetary donations you may be able to give, to lessen the financial burden of their current situation, with strong hope that Phillip will make as quick a recovery as possible. Thank you for your consideration and please consider donating, keeping Phillip in your prayers/thoughts, and offering words of encouragement.
