Bey Montgomery's family needs you
Donation protected
Jennifer, Ben, Asher and Mo Montgomery lost the most magical boy Tuesday. Bey lived to the hilt every day of his 11 years, leaping from the roof to the pool, climbing the tallest trees, singing Folsom Prison in the way only Bey could, hiking 400 miles of the Appalachian Trail, never once in his life ordering off the kids' menu, and loving his sisters and parents and friends. The hole in the universe is unfathomable, but the bills are real.
Bey's mom, Jennifer, owns Shuffle , the coolest joint in Tampa Heights. Go there and drink and eat and honor Bey, who ruled the courts. Spend a lot and tip well.
The house where Jennifer and the kids lived, where Bey was born and where he died, is not an option anymore, and they will need help to get a new start.
You can help in these ways:
$5,200: Rent at Shuffle
$1,800: Mortgage at the house
$400: A car payment
$270: A month of crew team for Asher
$150: An average hour of therapy
$100: Roller Derby skates
$75: Application fee for Harvard
$50: Contribution to the 2040 Asher Montgomery presidential campaign fund
$30: A tank of gas
$10: A pack of American Spirits
$4: One vegan taco
Jennifer and Ben have always been the first people to show up when there's a crisis, and the last to leave. Show up for them now.
Details: The money will be used to pay off Jennifer's car and other recurring debts, get the house ready to sell and get Jennifer and the girls into a new place to live right away.
I'm Kelley French, Ben and Jennifer's friend and Ben's former editor. Ben and Jen have authorized me to withdraw the money and distribute it. Thanks for your support.
