Our dearest daughter Rebecca passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday July 7, 2020 from pneumonia. She was born on March 2, 1993 in Scottsdale, AZ. She leaves behind her identical twin sister Elizabeth, her younger sister, Emily, Grandmother Mary and her parents, Carla and Bill in Davis, CA.
She was a shining example of determination and courage. All three sisters were born with an undiagnosed muscle weakness which ultimately led them to live their life in a power wheelchair. Regardless of those roadblocks, Rebecca always persevered, putting her head down and going forward. She was just beginning to blossom at a young woman; finding new friends and getting used to cruising across UCDavis campus. She graduated from a well-respected high school in Redding, CA, got two Associate Degrees from Shasta Community College and was one semester away from completing her BA in English from UCDavis this Fall.
She was a lover of nature and all animals and critters. She especially loved zoos. She would get upset with her dad for having to kill bugs in the house, as opposed to catching the and setting them free.
The picture is her holding a bear at the Kirschner Wildlife Sanctuary in Oroville, CA. It was taken several years ago. The bear just woke up from a nap. This was a surprise trip for her and her sisters that mom and dad did not tell them about. She loved strolling through and seeing the animals and was concerned about their well being. Second photo is her petting a hedgehog at the Sacramento Zoo. A favorite location of hers.
She loved the several times we went to the Sacramento zoo. Always wanting to go back when it was cooler. It gets pretty hot in Sacramento in the summer. She loved to watch the ducks and flamingos in the center. She loved watching them feed them with the floating dishes.
Our wishes are to fund a sitting bench at the Sacramento Zoo. The cost is $2500. In lieu of flowers or cards please consider supporting our memorial bench for our sweet baby. Any amount above our goal will be donated to Shriner's Hospital in Sacramento. Thank you so much for your help!!!
