Hello, my name is TJ Steele, I am Beverly's one and only son. On January 1 Beverly suffered a stroke. Her left side is very weak so she cannot stand or walk on her own. Her face is numb, and she can barely swallow. She is coherent and "all there" for sure, just her body cannot convey her words due to the muscles not responding. She will require 24/7/365 care as well as frequent speech and physical therapy to hopefully recover. I know my mom is a fighter with help knowing she has all the care needed to get there, however the nearest facility that has the best stroke recovery therapy is an hour away and is not covered by her insurance. Frankly, there are no therapy options that are covered. I am not one to ask for help, ever. I want my mom home, and not in any facility so we plan to care for her at home and take her to Vancouver for her therapy then bring her home as required. I am just as prideful and stubborn as my father Gary. I miss him so much. I have a hard time asking for help, and so does my mom Beverly. I know my precious mom has helped so many people and been there with her readings, her time and her advice. She has touched thousands with her giving heart. She has spent most of her life helping others. When this happened I screamed and cried then prayed. The thought of a go fund came to me as a way for everyone she has touched in her fifty years of helping others to help her in some small way so our family can afford to rally around her and help her get the best care possible. Please, I cannot lose my mom, if she cannot be independent I know she will join my Dad in heaven. I just know it. She needs a purpose, if she cannot be talking to her clients, help others and help the family she will "fail to thrive" and fade away. Please if you can help our entire family would appreciate it more than we could ever express. I would love to see my mom Beverly smiling back on her phone helping everyone that brings her so much joy and purpose. She is a mother to many of us, she needs us.
