On January 14, our family suffered a tragedy when Beverly, a 34 year old mother of 2, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. She fell in a way that prevented help from getting to her in time to save her, and she was put onto life support. No further cause was determined, so our faith in God’s will is the only answer we will get as to why and how this happened.
The very next day, while her family was gathered to mourn and make preparations, her mother Nancy also suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Thankfully, her family being at the house meant she was able to receive life-saving measures in time. God knew that her son and grandchildren needed her to stay with us. However, she had to spend several days in the hospital and will need ongoing cardiac care. It was a blessing in disguise that Nancy was in the same unit as her daughter, since Covid protocols prevented visitation from all the people who wanted to be there for both of them.
On January 20, Bev was escorted to surgery by her mom and brother, and they said goodbye to her as she went in for organ donation. She was the miracle for several other families who will never know her and it is comforting to know that she was able to bless them with such a phenomenal gift.
We are raising money first to help with her cremation, and the next priority is her memorial service, though we don’t know yet when that will take place due to COVID regulations and concerns. We will also be facing medical bills and an ongoing & urgent septic repair for their home.
Beverly was an exceptionally creative soul. She never met an art or craft project she didn’t like, and was musically gifted as well, playing piano for her church for many years. Her children were her whole world and she loved to volunteer in their classrooms and be surrounded by their classmates and friends as well. She made it through many trials she faced, and devoted her energy to supporting and empowering women who were facing challenges in their own lives.
Matthew 11:28
Come unto me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.
Though this tragic loss of Beverly and additional near-miss with Nancy has been devastating, they have both been surrounded with love and the light of God. We have been graced with well-wishes and prayers not just from family and friends, but also from their family church and from around the country. Everyone is coming together for us however they can and we are so grateful.
