My heart broke when we got the call: Betzy is going into emergency surgery for Pyometra. The vet believes she’s strong enough to survive—but they’ve found something in her uterus that could be the root of her suffering. We were asked for an additional $2,500 deposit just to proceed.

We are out of funds.

We are out of time.

But we are not giving up.

Betzy has already endured over $5,000 in vet care, and she’s still fighting. She’s slowly improving—but without this surgery, we may be forced to make the unthinkable decision to euthanize… not because she’s too sick, but because we simply can’t afford to save her.

Tiny Paws Rescue is drowning in medical cases. Each dog we take in needs urgent care, averaging $600–$1,000 per pup. We’ve never turned away a soul in need—but we can’t keep going without your help.

Meet Betzy ♥️

Betzy came to Tiny Paws in Sept. 2025 as a retired breeder. What this means is, she was no longer “producing” for the breeder, so she was no longer of any use to them.

Fortunately, she found her way to Tiny Paws, where we promised her a better life.

When she arrived, it was pretty clear she was not well and would need some time to heal and recover from her previous life. Then, a few days later, to everyone’s surprise, her sick, broken, frail, used-up little body blessed us with 6 beautiful babies.

Sadly, because Betzy was fighting for her own life much harder than we knew in that moment, 2 of her babies didn’t make it through the night. Another passed the following day. Betzy then had to be pulled from her newborn puppies and rushed to the ER vet. Two days later, we lost the last female puppy.

That brings us current.

Betzy and 2 of her handsome puppies are still with us and fighting for every breath. While we quietly celebrate the small miracles every day, we are cautiously optimistic.

Betzy is still at the ER vet in Rockford, and her puppies are in the capable hands of one of our amazing fosters. The puppies require bottle feedings every 2 hours, almost constant monitoring, and various other duties that Betzy is not there to perform.

The costs of supplies for the puppies rise every day, as does Betzy’s vet bill. We are doing everything in our power to save this little family and give Betzy the chance to know a life outside of being a mom. Though she’s obviously amazing at it, almost giving her life for this last litter of babies, she deserves her chance.
