My name is Rick Amburgey, and it's embarrassing to have to post this, but I am posting this out of love in hopes that some people might be willing to help.

My mom, Betty Amburgey, has been very ill for a long time. She is currently fighting breast cancer for the second time, and she also has a benign brain tumor and stage 3 kidney disease. She has been immobile since December and requires 24-hour care. She lives with me.

The cost for the caregivers alone is over $13,000 per month. That doesn't include other medical bills such as doctor visits, medical tests, and hospital stays. Even though we have health insurance, caregivers are not covered by insurance and not all of the other medical costs are covered.

We have been paying everything ourselves using our savings, but the savings are almost gone. I can see we are going to need some help in order for mom to sustain her current level of care. I fear that she would be very sick or worse if she weren't able to have 24-hour care. I love my mom and I am trying to keep that from happening.
