Hi, my name is Sonja Riley the daughter of Betty. My mom has been having a tough time since March after a knee replacement. She is 87 years young, and put off having a knee replacement surgery because we were caring for my father. After his passing she knew it was time to get herself fixed and be able to walk again without pain. After her surgery on March 24 she was put into a rehab facility, and insurance only paid for 20 days. During the time in rehab she developed a blood clot. After the 20 days we had to bring her home, but little did we know she had an infection. So in April she had to have another surgery to clean out the infection, back into a rehab that we then had to pay daily for, and the care was terrible so we brought her home with home health care. 2 weeks later her infection got worse, hospitalized and finally transferred to UCI where she had to get 3 more surgeries. The implant was removed, and a spacer was placed. Her patella and tendon were destroyed so now she has a rod in place of the implant and will never bend her leg again. Two plastic surgeries to close up the leg being the infection killed good tissue. My mom lives on social security and is now back in a rehab facility which is very costly. She needs the medical attention from the rehab, but the funds in paying for it are limited. My family is asking for any help for medical bills so we can keep her in the rehab long enough to heal so she can come home and enjoy some life. An 87 year old woman should not have to be concerned of paying for her medical bills. Anything will help.
