Betty Kampes fight against ALS

Hello my name is Lindsay Slone and I am asking for help for my good friend and colleague Betty Kampe. In the 11 years I have worked with Betty she has helped more people than I can count. She has always been and still is a very strong woman that I look to for strength. She can give some stern guidance and in the same breath make sure that you had lunch for the day. I had the privilege of being her Supervisor for a year and it was some of the best training I ever received because you have to be on your toes around this spunky woman. In the same sense she is the most caring person I have ever met. She is a proud mother of 1 son, who is her entire world. She has also "mothered" many of us that had the privilege to work with her every day. At the beginning of 2023 she developed a twitch in her fingers along with some other nerve issues. As time progressed the doctors have started a prediagnosis of ALS. In the few short months that she has been out of work her mobility and speech has greatly declined. Her husband Jeff is unable to work as he has become her full time caregiver. Betty has an appointment at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis to get a complete diagnosis to be able to start the disability paperwork that she desperately needs. Jeff has had to remodel the bathroom so Betty can be cared for safely. That has taken much of their savings as this was completely unexpected. We anticipate disability taking quite some time to go through. Meanwhile the every day expenses and medical bills are continuing to pile up. They will also need gas money to get to the specialist in St. Louis. Any amount of money that you can afford to donate will not go wasted on this beautiful soul that has given everything she can during her lifetime and now needs our help. Thank you for your support.
