Hi my name is Sarah (Swailes) McCallum, I have started this fundraiser for my cousin Betty Hendrickson who was tragically hit by a vehicle while crossing the street on December 23 2025 in Campbell River BC. Betty was flown out to Victoria Royal Jubilee General Hospital. All of the injuries she sustained were to her head, and was put into an induced coma and was on a ventilator. Betty is now awake and off the ventilator, she is still in the ICU making slow positive steps on this lengthy road to recovery.

Betty has been living on her sail boat in the Heriot Bay Area for the past 10 years and is well known at the HBI docks and around the community. She is a caring, loving, compassionate women who has been through a lot over the years…. She is a fighter and I truly believe in time she will make a full recovery.

The funds raised would be put towards housing, moorage and easing her recovery costs, etc.

Here are a few photos of our 3 day sailing trip with Betty. She had a blast taking our kids out and pulling them behind her sailboat in her Zodiak and teaching them how to sail. She is truly one amazing lady and all we want for her is the very best and for her to make a full recovery. We love you Betty!
