Betty's favorite charity was a program through St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savage, MN where congregants would sew dresses from pillowcases and send them to Africa. She dedicated one of her bedrooms to the effort and spent countless hours at the sewing machine, making each dress unique and pretty so a little girl far away would know she was special.
