Bettger family need your help

Please help the Bettger Family. On Saturday, May 9th Fred Bettger was taken by ambulance first to our local hospital and then on to Red Deer hospital to undergo a life saving surgery due to a necrotizing disease. For 5 days the family and doctors were not sure if he was going to survive. He has undergone 4 surgeries in less than three weeks to stop this flesh-eating disease and repair the damage. During the course of his hospitalization, the doctors discovered that Fred has stage 4 colorectal cancer, which has already spread to his lungs. At this time, he is not eligible to begin any treatments for the cancer until his body is sufficiently healed from the surgeries. Fred has had to remain in the Red Deer hospital since he was admitted, and his wife Corrin has stayed by his side as much as possible because of the life and death nature of the situation.

It takes almost an hour to travel from the family home in Stettler to the hospital in Red Deer, and the cost of gas and being away from home has caused a financial burden to the family. One of the many tragedies of the situation is that the Bettger family was preparing to buy their first home at the end of May. It is now unclear if they will be eligible for this very anticipated purchase. The road forward is unclear at this point, but with both parents unable to work and the trying to keep up with work and school at home, anything would help this very deserving family.
