Better Days: Linda C's Journey

October is my birthday month!! While I can think of many things that I may want for my birthday, there is one thing that I need…. and that is for my mother to be healthy. Right now, we are in a fight for Ms. Linda Hunt Dula to be her healthiest. My mother was recently diagnosed with cancer, Myxofibrosarcoma, it is a very aggressive and rare cancer. We have been to many doctors and specialist for her care. Currently there is an amazing team at Duke Cancer Center in Durham, NC, who specializes in this sarcoma, and we love the care she is receiving because not only do they treat her physically, but they also ensure that mentally and emotionally she is taken care of. Her doctor is upbeat and positive, which is a big plus for us. Insurance can only go but so far and they take care of the medical bills, but that still leaves many out-of-pocket expenses. Her treatments start on October 11th and require stays at hotels and gas to travel, and that is not covered by insurance. A trip from Jacksonville NC to Durham NC is 358 miles round trip, and we all know the cost of a hotel stay. My goal is to raise $7,000 to cover 7 weeks of treatments and trips for my mother  as she begins this journey. This would make one less thing that my mom would have to stress and reserve that energy for the fight of her life.
