Betsy is a loving and thoughtful human who has spent her entire life taking care of everyone around her. She has found joy in helping others for years, and is known for the details. You could always count on Betsy to make sure there were mini marshmallows for the hot cocoa, Goldfish for the kids, fresh cut flowers, hand-written notes and cards by mail, homemade jams, homemade pickles, an original pillowcase with hand-picked fabrics sewn for us every Christmas, candles on the table, and so much more.
Betsy was diagnosed with ALS late last year, and the effects have been rapid. It has become a reality that John can no longer care for her on his own, and we need to hire private care until her MassHealth application is approved, and an in-network provider can be sourced.
We were recently quoted $3,000/week for overnight care, and we have found that this is a fairly accurate quote based on further research. Unfortunately, this cost is out of the scope of our financial abilities as a family.
We are also sadly aware that this private care is likely to turn to hospice care at some point in the near future for her safety and comfort.
We are asking for any financial assistance that you can provide to help us provide this care.
Thank you so much.
