Betsy's Hurricane Repair Fund

Betsy was our business coach for many years at WBU. She mentored us when our store struggled and helped us build it to where it is today. We owe so much to her! Betsy became more than a coach to us but also a friend. We watched her help many others over the years and go above and beyond her call of duty. When we discovered that Betsy was retiring, we were selfishly sad but also extremely excited for her. She's had some tough times in life, and no one deserved a better retirement more than her. After working hard for others for so much of her life, she could finally relax and take care of herself.

Shortly after retirement, she and her husband Bob settled in Florida in a small house on the canal...part of their dream! They started working hard on that little house, installing new floors, and working on the backyard. When talking to Betsy, she just seemed happy! She deserved that.

Not even finished with what needed to be done to the house, hurricane Ian formed and started heading straight towards them. Uncertain of the future, they evacuated and left behind their dream home. Ian strengthened more than expected and hit their new community head-on.

When they returned home, they realized their house had been flooded, a pontoon boat wedged between their house and their neighbor's house had broken one of their windows, causing even more damage as hurricane-force winds entered their home.

Betsy would NEVER ask for help. She is grateful their home was still standing, but while they were insured with all the necessary insurance, their damage is not fully covered. They are left with a very hefty bill from this historic hurricane and unsure of what the future holds for them as they navigate this situation.

Betsy feels that because others have it worse from this storm, they are perhaps undeserving, which isn't true! Betsy has minimal family and has spent her life putting others first. She deserves the best of retirements, and this was just getting started for her!

Please help out this wonderful person in need and help me show her how much she was appreciated! Our goal is set at $10k, which will likely be a small portion of what they will need, BUT it's more help than they currently have.

Donating to her directly helps a good person affected by the storm! If you don't feel close enough to this story to contribute, please consider donating to the Red Cross on behalf of Betsy and Bob.
