Betsy has cancer

“In May, Betsy started having sporadic pain in her lower abdomen on the right side. After ruling out several obvious things over the course of six weeks or so (thanks ChatGPT) Betsy noticed a bulge that she could feel from the outside.
About three weeks ago and after several doctors visits and many arguments with our insurance provider, we finally got the necessary tests and received a diagnosis. Betsy has colon cancer.
Of course this was shocking news. Every medical professional along the way prefaces our conversation with “You’re so young… but…”
We still have a lot to learn through this process, but we know the future will involve the removal of her entire large intestine and chemotherapy/radiation therapy. Surgery is scheduled for this coming Monday.
We are handling it well, I think, given the circumstances. Our kids are amazing and always say the right things. We are all very optimistic and have an amazing support group of family and friends.
Betsy has recently mentioned that she can literally feel your prayers. Yes, we know what “literally” means and she has literally felt them… in real time… probably as you are actually saying them. So thank you. We love you.” -Cameron Daley
Two school teachers who are not set up for this kind of financial burden. Living happy and humbly better than any family I know they started a an addition of their home for their growing family this summer that is incomplete. Already, the medical bills will make finishing their home impossible. I’d like to raise enough to complete the last $30k in repairs and help with medical bills that even with insurance will likely end up in 6 digits. Betsy has surgery in a few days where her quality of life will forever change for the worse. She is one of the sweetest most amazing women I know.
