Betsy Brown Daugherty

Betsy and her girls are loved by so many! Many people have reached out to see how they could help Betsy and her girls, so we are currently raising funds to help support them as they have a long road ahead.

On Monday, May 23, Betsy found her eight year old daughter, Maggie, unresponsive before school. She was life flighted to Children's and CT scans showed bleeding on her brain. Children's put in an EVD to relieve the pressure on her brain and help drain the blood. She had an MRI that evening that indicated that her brain was not bleeding anymore, but the MRI showed a mass that is believed to be a tumor.

Currently, she has been heavily sedated and intubated, but has been able to move and respond with lowered sedation. She was monitored for seizure activity and it was all negative. The hospital is working to lower the sedation and have her extubated so she will be awake and able to communicate. The plan will then be to wait, possibly several weeks, for a biopsy to be completed. The biospy will help determine exactly what the mass is and figure out a treatment plan. Doing a biopsy at this point would be too risky after everything she's been through so far and she needs a little time to heal. The doctors will be monitoring the EVD and eventually the goal is that Maggie's body will be able to drain the fluid on its own.

The money donated will help support Betsy and the girls while Betsy takes a leave from work. It will also help with cost of gas, parking, and food during hospital stays and doctors appointments. We will provide any updates as they come. Thank you all!
