Beto FB Live Robbery

I was watching the uprising in LA online and also on Facebook when I checked in on my longtime friend and associate, filmmaker Beto Lopez.

Beto is an amazing documentarian with a library of real events caught on camera that the Smithsonian or Getty Images would envy. He has documented 30 years   of breakdancing from the living and past legends of NYC to Oakland, CA. with his film The B-Boy Connection. A stunning visual artist.  An innovator of camera movement using roller skates, skateboards and an array of DIY styles for movement captured on camera.

Above all of this... He is my friend. A friend to many who have been wowed by his work and inspired by his commitment to his work. He has traveled the world with his camera capturing culture across the globe.

Tonight, Beto was robbed at gunpoint documenting looters at a Best Buy in Oakland/Emeryville, CA. Like many of Beto's other 'life adventures' the robbery was caught on his Facebook Live. Many of us, his friends watched in horror not knowing if Beto was okay for a few hours? I had just spoken to him an hour before the incident.

Please find it in your heart to contribute toward his losses on 5/30/20;

- Sony Camera $2,800

- iPhone XR (Insurance Deductible $125)

- Camera Lens $800

Let's go Internet, let's help someone tonight!
