As I'm sure you know, friends, I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. While it's been very scary, it's also brought me more love and support than I could have imagined. My friends, coworkers, and community have kept me on the bright side, and for that, I cannot thank you all enough.

Now comes my next challenge. I will have surgery this coming Friday (a lumpectomy in which they remove this little bugger). My doctor informs me I will be unable to carry trays of delicious cocktails and plates of mouth-watering tapas after having part of my boob scooped out, so looks like I'll be out of work for a little while. While I do have a little sick time I can use, most of the income I make is in tips. A lot of you have asked what you can do to help and, well, this is it. I'll simply need to cover my expenses for the month (mainly rent, which we all know is not cheap around these parts) while I recover.

Any amount I receive that is beyond what I need, I will be donating to Planned Parenthood. I didn't have health insurance when I found my lump back in December and Planned Parenthood was instrumental in navigating me through the services I needed.

Again, I want to thank everyone for the positivity and the support I've received and continue to receive. Luckily, this cancer is very treatable and I should be back to doin' my usual stuff soon! I'm looking forward to going from being a cancer patient to a cancer survivor.
