Many of you have been faithful supporters of my Relay for Life team, Family Matters, and know the reason behind my and my family's formation of a team and involvement in Relay.
In 2010, Beth Marrier was diagnosed with colon cancer. It's been a very long, bumpy road, but, she's managed to fight on and for all of the bad days, she has had many, many good days.
In the time she has been fighting cancer, she has also been an active supporter of Relay and fundraising for cancer research. In our years of fundraising, she's made it very clear that she never wanted our relaying about her. Our goal was always to raise awareness and to teach our children about being charitable, compassionate beings. That goal remains, just in a different approach.
Many of you know that our team has not joined our local Relay, and that is only because our attention and efforts need to be directly with our survivor...
Beth has Stage 4 metastic colon cancer that has been many places over the years. Most recently, she underwent radiation therapy to treat spots found on her brain.
She has been approved for a new chemotherapy drug, but the out of pocket amount, and cost of insurance, is giving a financial burden.
The time has come where our fundraising efforts need to be where we never intended them to be: with Beth directly.
In lieu of your donations to our relay team, please donate here to Beth. She is a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and so much more to so many people. Most importantly, she is our Survivor and she needs our support.
As always, I will gladly collect your returnable cans and bottles and donate the monies to Beth.
