Bethlehem’s Jude Troiano’s Critical Surgery
Donación protegida
Let’s come together as a Bethlehem community to support the Troiano family as their son Jude faces a critical spinal surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital. Jude is a joyful, sweet, curious, and silly nine-year-old, AND A TOUGH FIGHTER! He was born with a variety of medical conditions that require care around the clock. He’s endured nine surgeries to date and many hospital stays. He uses a wheelchair, has visual and hearing impairments, and faces many chronic health conditions including seizures.
This surgery is vital to relieve pressure on his spinal cord in an area that regulates breathing. It’s anticipated that he’ll be under the care of doctors in Boston for six weeks before returning home for a three-month-long recovery that includes wearing a halo brace to hold his head and neck in place while his spine heals. It’s very emotional knowing he has to undergo a difficult surgery.
Jude’s parents, Jessica and Alex Troiano, are the kindest, most generous, hardworking people and haven’t asked for help. As their friends, we want to bring to the community’s attention that along with your love and prayers, the Troiano family could use financial assistance.
Expenses related to the surgery include Alex’s travel back and forth between Delmar and Boston (he’ll be dividing his time working and caring for their son Tristan at home and helping Jude and Jessica in Boston) and meals for Jessica while she’s away. Other ongoing expenses include copays, prescriptions (he takes over 10 daily!) and medical equipment not covered by insurance. Long term, mounting expenses are anticipated as their home won’t accommodate Jude and his wheelchair much longer as he grows, and their aging van to transport him needs to be replaced.
Please consider making a donation if you’re able to—no amount is too small—and sharing this cause with your friends. Our combined efforts can help give the Troianos one less thing to worry about as they focus on their family and providing Jude the best care possible.
Our heartfelt thanks! Jill Cozzy, Lani Larson, and Colleen Murray
